From philosophy to medicine, Brendan Essary, MD is now the current President of RIA & Managing Partner, Medical Imaging of Colorado. We find out how he got where he is now.
How, when and why did you decide to pursue a career in medicine?
In college, I majored in philosophy, which favors a more meandering life route, so I took a few years after college to decide on my professional path. My mother is a nurse, and her passion for and professional satisfaction with medicine greatly influenced my professional decision-making.
What do you like most about your job?
The people. RIA is a wonderful collection of people: technologists, many different circles working in the business office, administrators, physicians and many others. The kindness, work ethic and commitment of the people that make up RIA is impressive.
What is your favorite way to spend free time?
I have three young kids and a great wife, which take up most of my time. All five of us grew up in or are growing up in Colorado, so we spend most of our time doing Colorado-type things, like enjoying the great outdoors.
What do you like most about working at RIA?
In my opinion, RIA has its values correctly tuned. We are a company that values how well we take care of patients above all else.
