We love sitting down and learning more about our team. Here are some things we learned when we talked with Jean Michel Grillon, M.D.
How, when and why did you decide to pursue a career in medicine?
I decided to pursue a career in medicine while working in medical research. While I enjoyed the challenge of the work, I wanted to have a more direct impact on people’s lives. I decided to become a physician so I could not only be challenged and engaged on an intellectual level but also help others at the same time.
What do you like most about your job?
I like the collaborative nature of radiology and being an active member of the health care team. Whether it’s helping an emergency medicine physician discover the cause of a patient’s pain or participating in multidisciplinary conferences to assist in the management of complex cancer and transplant patients.
What is your favorite way to spend free time?
I try to take advantage of all the great outdoor activities Colorado has to offer. I’m an avid skier and hiker and spend as much of my free time up in the mountains as possible!
What do you like most about working at RIA?
I value the friendly and collegial culture at RIA. It’s always easy to reach out to my colleagues for advice when confronted with a complex diagnostic case or a challenging interventional procedure. I also appreciate the level of subspecialization our practice affords. It allows me to practice radiology at a high level while continuously pushing me to expand my knowledge base and be at the forefront of my specialty.
